For Books in the Oliver Wendell Holmes Library:

Search the OWHL Catalog

The OWHL also contains the holdings of:

  • The Addison Gallery of American Art,

For Books in the NOBLE consortium:

Search the NOBLE catalog The OWHL is a member of the North Of Boston Library Exchange (NOBLE); “a cooperative effort of 27 area libraries founded to improve library service through automation. Members of the PA community have direct access to over 3 million items in the Noble catalog. If you locate an item that is not available through OWHL, you can request it for delivery to Phillips Academy. You will receive an email when it arrives.

TIP: Come to the library to get a personal identification number (PIN) which will allow you to request titles from any of the
 member libraries.

For Books in Memorial Hall Library, Andover's public library:

Search the Memorial Hall Library Catalog If the book is on the shelf at Memorial Hall, you may use your PA identification card to obtain borrowing privileges. The library is located at the intersection of Main and Elm Streets. You are responsible for returning the book on time.

For Inter-Library Loan from Libraries in Massachusetts

The Virtual Catalog searches through many Massachusetts library catalogs for a book, CD, audio or video and then informs you who owns it and whether it is on the shelf. If you locate an item that is not available through NOBLE, you can request it for delivery to Phillips Academy. You will receive an email when it arrives.

If you still need more books...

Search OCLC WorldCat OCLC WorldCat is a database of hundreds of library catalogs, from around the country. Through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts the OWHL is able to borrow books from other libraries, usually without any charge to you. Search the database and speak to a librarian about your requirements. Please remember that it can take a week or more to obtain your book. Contact salovisetti@andover.edu if you have questions about a pending loan request. For REMOTE ACCESS, use 2186700 plus your 7 digit PA ID number. Call the library at x4230 or email us at owhlibrary@andover.edu for help.
